Cross Bottled Ink

There is nothing remarkable about the Cross ink bottle but it does exactly what it says on the label! The ink is of good quality and is suitable for all makes of pen (although each manufacturer would prefer you to choose theirs). The bottles are made of glass with a plastic screw cap and come with 50ml of ink in them.

Like a lot of pen manufacturers, Cross make only one type of ink cartidge to fit all their fountain pens. The cartridges are relatively short and generally you can fit two into your pen barrel. The cartridges contain the ususal high quality Cross ink but are disappointingly available in a pretty restricted range of colour options. Supplied in boxes of six cartridges.

Townsend etc: a type of filling mechanism for two Cross ranges, the top-end Townsend models and the old Solo style (no longer sold). This handy screw filling mechanism converts a Cross fountain pen into a pen that can be filled with fountain pen ink. Most of the Cross pens are sold with the convertor included so check that it's not lurking in the pen box before you order this!
Century etc: this handy screw filling mechanism converts a Cross fountain pen into a pen that can be filled with fountain pen ink. Most of the Cross pens are sold with the convertor included. This convertor is suitable for the Century, Verve & ATX ranges. There is another convertor available for other ranges (see below).

With its distinctive thin barrel and plastic screw top this is a refill that fits many unbranded pens as well as most of the Cross range. Despite it's skinny size, we find that the refill will last approximately three months of normal use. It's also a refill that tends not to blotch as much as some other manufacturers. All in all, a bit of a classic - but strangely no longer available in red.

This jumbo sized ball pen confuses some of our customers as it's designed to convert a rollerball into a ball pen and won't actually fit into any Cross ball pen. Once fitted to a Cross rollerball pens you can then use the pen as a conventional ball pen. With their extra capacity, we find that the refills last for approximately six months. The refill is sold in singles only and is available in two different colours. There is only one width of refill available.

There is only one width of refill available.

This is the relatively new ink refill that Cross have created to fit in their Cross Ion pens. The gel ink is wetter than a conventional ball pen refill and writes more smoothly on paper. The gel also provides a stronger colour of ink and Cross have taken advantage of this to provide an interesting array of colours. The gel inks are sold as singles and we find they will last approximately one month with average use.
Sorry the green has been discontinued by Cross.

A rather strange name but this is the fibretip fineliner refill that will fit into all Cross rollerball pens. The fine line that the refill produces is a favourite of artists and miniaturists! We find that with average use the refill will last for approximately two months. The refill is sold in singles and is available in two different colours. Sorry, we are currently out of stock of this refill in Green & Red.

Their pencils are well made and the Cross erasers are also of high quality. They erase 'cleanly' and the 0.5mm refill is also compatible with a lot of other makes. The O.5mm erasers are packed in fives and erasers will fit most Cross 0.5mm pencils including the Century & ATX ranges. The 0.9mm erasers will fit the older Cross 0.9mm pencils, including the Cross Classic range, and are packed in threes.

This is a self-contained refill that comes complete with leads and a ready-fitted eraser - you simply drop the refill into your Cross pen and off you go. We like Cross as a company but we're a bit concerned about the lack of recycling on this option - we suggest that when the leads have run out you refill the tube with 0.5mm leads rather than replace the whole tube itself.

Supplied in a smart golden tube, these leads are compatible with all 0.9mm pencils. They have been a grade of HB but we always find that the Cross leads err on the side of being softer and darker than the standard HB.
